As
I sit home on the snowiest day we’ve had since
moving to New Jersey nearly four years ago, I am
aware of how much I have to be grateful for. Having
never moved out of Florida for the better part of
my life, I was unaware of how beautiful the change
of seasons really is! While this record snow is
an inconvenience, it does have positives. The neighborhood
kids are in the street sledding, building snowmen,
and laughing with delight. My teenager is trying
to snowboard off our back deck and I am hoping he
doesn’t hurt himself. Life is good.
Part of what made the move to NJ a positive experience
for me has been the opportunity to meet people and
participate in activities with Newcomers & Neighbors.
I am truly grateful for this organization and the
volunteers that donate their time to plan all the
activities and events that the Club has scheduled.
This is the time of year when we begin to plan our
Board for next year and we need new recruits to
volunteer to give a few hours a month to ensure
that the club activities continue. This year we
will be losing a few volunteers and it is very important
that these positions be filled so that our club
can continue to run smoothly. No job is too big
or time consuming and you can easily share a position
with a friend. If you would like to find out more
about getting more involved, please feel free to
speak with any of us currently on the board or better
yet, join us at our March Board Meeting (see below).
Please consider helping us out a few hours a month
by becoming involved with the NNSH Board.
Meanwhile, there is plenty to do this month from
the “Slice of Brooklyn Pizza Tour” to
a discussion of The Double Bind at the
Monthly Book Discussion. Get those photos organized
with the Scrapbooking Group or add your opinion
to the Foreign Policy Discussion. Try a restaurant
or a new wine. There are many groups with a variety
of interests! We welcome you and your friends and
neighbors!
Until next month…
