Do you sometimes have some free time when you'd liked to do something -- but don't have anyone to do it with? The SPARK (Spontaneous Activities) Group -- is designed to help you find other NNSH members who might want to go out to lunch, play a game of Scrabble, catch a movie, go for a walk, visit an art gallery, have a cup of tea, or whatever.
Members post a SPARK by emailing everyone in the group using the email address NNSH-SPARK@yahoogroups.com. In the subject line, write SPARK: your idea. Then write a description in the text along with how you'd like people to respond to you (if they hit "reply" it will automatically send an email to the person who posted the SPARK, but for time-critical ideas, you may want to have them call your cell.) SPARKs can be planned in advance or on the spur of the moment and can have specific dates / time or just try to garner interest. Here are some examples:
SPARK:Walk today?
Gorgeous outside and my feet are itching. Anyone want to take a walk around area this afternoon? Give me a call at my number.
SPARK: Movie Title
Title is playing at Montgomery Cinemas. Anyone care to go to the Friday 2 p.m. showing? Maybe with lunch first in the area? Email or call my number.
If you would like to be included on the list for SPARK alerts or for additional information, please email or call Carol Levin at cglevin@optonline.net or 908-781-6041. Send Carol your email address along with the phone number(s) you use since members may need to make phone calls to verify or finalize last-minute arrangements. |

Have you recently enjoyed an interesting outing in the area? Please think about sharing the information you gain with other newcomers and neighbors by writing a trip report for publication in the Welcome Mat or NNSH website. Submit your report to Sheila Miller, our Welcome Mat Editor at nnshwelcomemat@gmail.com.
SOCIAL COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED : The NNSH Board is looking for additional volunteers for the Social Committee. The group's responsibilities are to plan three annual activities. In January we have a New Year's Toast and finally the end-of-the-year Family BBQ in June. If you like to plan parties or simply have an interest in helping out.
